Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris,.Kauran Gwandu, on Thursday presented a budget proposal of over N642.9billion to the State House of Assembly for  consideration and approval.
The budget is tagged, 'Budget of Transformation and People Empowerment'.

He stated that out of the figure, capital expenditure  constitute 75 per cent while recurrent expenditure is 25 per cent.

According to the Governor, capital expenditure amounts to N479.36billion, while recurrent expenditure stands at N163.57billion.

Dr Nasir Idris explained that the allocation structure demonstrated the unwavering commitment of his administration to long-term development while maintaining essential operational stability.

The Governor added that the budget would be financed through  main envelope of N338.506billion from the State's share of its federal allocation, Value Added Tax and Internally Generated Revenue.

Dr Nasir Idris also stated that this would be complemented by capital receipts of the budget via development partnerships and targeted financing instruments.

He disclosed that the key sectoral priorities include agriculture and Infrastructure through the Ministries of Works, Health and Basic Education.

"These priority areas have been chosen based on their capabilities to deliver sustainable growth and shared prosperity.

Dr Nasir Idris further said that the budget was intentionally structured to advance structural transformation through infrastructure expansion, agricultural growth and broad-based citizens' empowerment.

The Governor added that the 2026 budget was designed to confront the present challenges while laying the foundation for a stronger, more resilient future.

Dr Nasir Idris said,"It is rooted in the principles of Kauran mics, centred on social inclusion, agricultural advancement, human capital development and fiscal responsibility.

"From Argungu to Zuru, from Bagudo to Yauri, and in every community across the state, this budget reflects our commitment to equitable development and improved quality of life.

"It is a budget for growth, a budget for empowerment and a budget for progress.

"I hereby commit the 2026 Appropriation Bill to this Honourable House and humbly request its favourable and timely passage.

"Thank you, Mr Speaker. May Allah bless Kebbi State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria."

Dr Nasir Idris commended the House for the continued cooperation and legislative support over the past 31 months.

He said, "Your partnership has greatly strengthened public administration in Kebbi State.

"Over this period, our administration has 
 recorded tangible improvements across strategic sectors."

According to him, these achievements were made possible through the support and constructive engagement of the Legislators.

He said that their consistent backing reinforced the resolve of the administration to fulfil its mandate to the citizens of the state.

Dr Nasir Idris added, "Together, we will continue to prioritise development, accountability and responsible governance."
