Kebbi State Rated As The Second Largest In Animal Population In Nigeria With Over 3Million Cows

Kebbi State has been rated as the second largest in terms of animal population in Nigeria with over three million cows, three point five million sheeps and over three million goats.
The State Commissioner for Animal Health, Husbandry and Fisheries, Alhaji Kabiru Usman, disclosed this to Radio Nigeria in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi state.
The Commissioner stated that, apart from Yobe state that statistics indicated that, it is the first state with the largest livestock population in the country, Kebbi state became the second state with the largest population.
The Commissioner explains that, in July this year, the Ministry undertook Ring Vaccination for animals following an outbreak of Anthrax disease in some local government areas bordering Niger and Benin Republic and other Nigeria states that include Niger, Sokoto and Zamfara states.
He revealed that, very soon the ministry would commence vaccination against Bruselases and PPR diseases in the state.
Kabir Usman, said the Ministry has in stock vaccination against rabies and it will be administer free of charge to any victim of dog or cat bite in the state.
The Commissioner also called on farmers and Fulani's to leave in peace with one another as no activities can take place without peace.
