The Sokoto State Government (SOSG) delegation, led by State Deputy Governor Engr Idris Muhammad Gobir, actively engaged in a strategic engagements in Abidjan, Cote D'Ivoire. Amongst the delegation were the Honourable Bashar Umar Kwabo, the Commissioner, Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy and Dr Mustapha Bashir, the Director General Fadama Project, Sokoto State. The focus was on advancing agricultural activities through the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) program and other areas of cooperation that could attract grants and Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) to the State. 

Spearheaded by the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Akinwumi A. Adesina, SAPZ aims to transform rural areas into economically vibrant zones. Phase one of the SAPZ program includes the Federal Capital Territory and seven states. Notably, Sokoto State, among others, has expressed interest in participating in this transformative initiative.

SOSG has implemented targeted policies and initiatives aimed at empowering local farmers, enhancing agricultural productivity, and promoting agribusiness. Establishing Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy equally opened more opportunities for the State across National and international sphere. Furthermore, the state has invested in infrastructural development to support the agricultural sector, including improving rural roads and irrigation facilities. This multifaceted approach aligns with the broader vision of creating sustainable economic opportunities in rural areas.

Sokoto State's active participation positions it as a key influencer in shaping the success of SAPZ. This commitment reflects the leadership of Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, PhD, FCNA, in bringing development to vulnerable rural areas, aligning with the broader vision of transforming them into thriving economic players. The state's dedication reaffirms its role as a prominent player in Africa's agricultural transformation landscape.
